[brightcove]1089863873001[/brightcove] Battleship has launched a new range of international posters, showing four of the film’s major human players. The new posters show our four heroes looking extremely gruff (well, except for Rihanna, who looks quite pretty), with a short-haired Taylor Kitsch looking worlds away from his John Carter persona. Notable features include Liam Neeson’s remarkably youthful face, Alexander Skarsgard’s apparent transformation into Dolph Lundgren and a fairly unconvincing naval tattoo on...

How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders is taking on a legen–Wait For It–dary role in the first big popcorn flick of the summer, Joss Whedon’s highly anticipated The Avengers. Smulders plays S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill, who was described by former Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada as “a force of nature.” See the full-sized pic of Smulders in action below, plus another glimpse of Ms. Hill (if you’re nasty).

Bruce Willis will star in Sony's action thriller "Five Against a Bullet," Hannah Minghella, president of production at Sony's Columbia Pictures, said Thursday. The movie, which Alex Litvak ("The Three Musketeers," "Predators") is writing, is about a Mexican politician who hires the five best bodyguards in the world after a drug cartel kills his father. Willis will play one of the bodyguards. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Jordan Schur and David Mimran are producing the movie. "We have been excited about this project since acquiring the rights last year,"

Thin is in…big trouble. Kim Kardashian, along with sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Khloé Karadshian Odom, are among those named in a new $5 million class action suit filed in Manhattan court by a small group of dieters who claim that the reality star-endorsed QuickTrim diet pills didn't live up to its lofty weight-loss claims. The suit was filed by four customers who bought and used the pills and, after failing to see their bodies transform into that of the small-screen superstars, called foul on the product, contending that the tablets' slimming prowess must have been overstated by the girls and the company. As a result, they're now claiming that QuickTrim—the benefits of

James Bond 007 Declassified File #2: "From Russia With Love" This series will trace the cinema history of James Bond, while also examining Ian Fleming's original novels as source material and examining how faithful (or not) the films have been to his work. This edition of this column is dedicated to my father, who took me to see "The Spy Who Loved Me" in 1977, igniting my own lifelong relationship with the character. He was an old-school fan, a Fleming fan, a Connery fan, and if I got any particular part of my fanboy DNA from him, it's Eastwood and it's

Scarlett Johansson has nabbed the plum role of Janet Leigh in Fox Searchlight's "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho", an upcoming biopic that sheds light on the difficulties Hitchcock suffered during the making of the classic horror film. Leigh was, of course, one of the stars of the film - an A-list movie actress who audiences were shocked to see being violently killed off before the halfway mark. In addition to Johansson, James D'Arcy has also been added to the cast and will play the part of Anthony Perkins, the late actor who portrayed the psychotic hotel owner/mama's boy Norman

Exclusive: In a seven-figure preemptive deal, Sony Pictures is collaborating with Ryan Murphy on One Hit Wonders, a musical comedy pitch that will be written as a star vehicle for Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, Beyonce and Andy Samberg. Murphy is attached to direct, and he will write the script with his Glee cohorts Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Murphy will produce with Paltrow (who has practically become a Glee cast member) and the latter makes her debut as a producer on this film. Murphy hopes to direct it after he completes The Normal Heart. Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz will play three singers who each scored a top hit song in the 1990s before watching their careers go down the drain. They decide to form a super group. Samberg and his Lonely Island cohorts will be involved in generating music for the film, I’m told. The project came

Oldboy’s drawn-out casting process looks to be taking a step in the right direction with the announcement that Elizabeth Olsen is currently in talks to play the female lead. Details concerning the part are few and far between, but we’d wager Olsen is being pitched the part of the waitress that the leading man falls for upon leaving his spell in captivity. Josh Brolin is already in place to play Joe, the aforementioned captive who finds himself suddenly released back into the world having been held prisoner in a hotel room for...
